چکیده
Following one of the driest years on record, millions hectares forests in southeast Australia were burned 2019–2020 “Black Summer” wildfires. In addition to areas burned, drought related canopy collapse, dieback and tree mortality was widely observed. this paper, we present a method map damage due fire across large area. Sentinel-2 satellite imagery used monthly time series highlight forest where Normalized Burn Ratio index significantly below pre-disturbance “stable” period. The stable period defined as 3 prior 2019 disturbance thresholds are based bioregion specific standard deviations means. novel methods enabled impacted be identified, including those which subsequently by wildfire. Across 20 Mha studied, 9.9 (49%) fell threshold. Of that, 5.8 disturbed further 4.1 outside extent. Within extent, almost 0.9 identified being affected burned. An analysis spectral recovery following substantial rainfall from February 2020 onward indicates that most both have similar rates only fire. There some areas, however, combined effects “double disturbance” appears hindering recovery. presented here easily transferrable demonstrate an approach for monitoring at higher temporal spatial scales than typically used.

Herbal plants zoning using target detection algorithms on time-series of Sentinel-2 multispectral images (Amygdalus Scoparia)
Today, medicinal plants have a special place in the economy and health of a society. Due to the natural growth of many of these products, the necessity of zoning them for optimum and optimal utilization seems necessary. Traditional zoning solutions are not efficient due to their low accuracy and speed, therefore a new approach is needed. Remote sensing data have many applications in various fie...
متن کاملUsing Wavelets and Splines to Forecast Non-Stationary Time Series
This paper deals with a short term forecasting non-stationary time series using wavelets and splines. Wavelets can decompose the series as the sum of two low and high frequency components. Aminghafari and Poggi (2007) proposed to predict high frequency component by wavelets and extrapolate low frequency component by local polynomial fitting. We propose to forecast non-stationary process u...
متن کاملImpacts of land management on the resilience of 2 Mediterranean dry forests to fire 3
11 Wildfires have always been a part of the history of Mediterranean forests. However, forest 12 regeneration after a wildfire is not certain. It depends on many factors, some of which may be 13 influenced by land management activities. Failure of regeneration will cause a regime shift in the 14 ecosystem, reducing the provision of ecosystem services and ultimately leading to desertification. 1...

We assessed the impacts of picnic areas on birds within adjacent eucalypt forests in the Brisbane region, Australia. Within he picnic areas there was an assemblage of relatively large, aggressive birds, including several generalist predators (Torresian row, grey and pied butcherbirds, Australian magpie) as well as the noisy miner, resembling that found in suburban areas within he study region. ...

Reliable drought information is of utmost importance for efficient drought management. This paper presents a fully operational processing chain for mapping drought occurrence, extent and strength based on Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) data at 250 m resolution. Illustrations are provided for the territory of Kenya. The process...
